The Friends of Trowbridge Bandstand has been set up in accordance with the guidelines issued by the Charity Commission for England and Wales and will operate as a Foundation Model Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO).

A Foundation Model CIO is a specific type of legal structure created for charities. Under this model we are governed by a written Constitution that dictates how we are managed and by who, how and where we operate, and how decisions must be made.

Everything that we do MUST be done in accordance with this Constitution.

Under this Constitution the FoTB is governed by a Board of Trustees that must number at least three persons but cannot exceed eleven. Trustees are either appointed following election by the Board of Trustees (a maximum of eight members can be appointed this way), two further members can nominated by the Bandstands freehold owner (Trowbridge Town Council), and finally one member, the Chair of the Trowbridge Civic Society, may be co-opted as an ex-officio Trustee due to their position. This gives us the maximum possible number of eleven Trustees at any one time.

The FoTB also welcomes Associate Members. These will be members of the public who share our aims and objectives and want to get involved to a greater or lesser degree in helping us achieve them. Whilst Associate Members have no voting rights (and therefore no legal or financial liability for decisions made by the Board of Trustees), they are without doubt the key to the success of the organisation.
